About Vickie

Vickie McMillan, a Native Texan and Master in acrylics and watercolor, studied at the Maryland Institute of Art and earned a BFA in Watercolor at the University of North Texas. She is a professional wildlife artist and is currently exhibiting and selling her work across the nation. She was just recently named the 2011 Houston Safari Club Artist of the Year.  Her work can be seen in magazines, newspapers, TV programs and video's both in the United States and over seas.  As an ARTreach Visual Arts Program Director, she is known for her Public Installations, Interactive and Collaborative Mural programs, Community Projects, workshops and Speaking Engagements. Some of her installations include Texas Children's Hospital, Harris County Juvenile Detention Center and Katy Schools  She is also considered a highly qualified judge for the Art’s including such competitions as a State Judge for the Texas PTA Reflections competition and the TAEA (Texas Art Education Association). Her programs and workshops are requested both nationally and abroad. She believes art is a universal language and can bridge the barriers of ethnicity, belief, culture, language and economic status. Vickie brings the arts to impoverished people around the world and in return shares those experiences to teach, encourage, inspire and empower students and adults in the U.S.  Her work has impacted thousands of students, teachers, artists and organizations in the United States and abroad including Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mexico, China, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
