Artist Training

In Kampala, Uganda, Vickie donated art supplies to and conducted a watercolor workshop for twenty-one of the top artists in the country at the National Art Gallery; equipping them with new techniques that many of them claimed “revolutionized” their work and careers. She also met with the art students at several local high schools and taught the students to utilize commonly found natural materials to create their artwork.

In Hartebeespoort, South Africa, Vickie conducted a two training conference with world-renown artist Kobus Moller that enabled local artists to make significant improvements in their various painting styles.

In an orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, young children were captivated as Vickie painted a colorful mural on the wall and then taught the children how to make their own masterpieces.

At a conference in Baguio City, the Philippines, local leaders in the community were challenged by Vickie to invite artists in their community to begin to utilize visual arts to enhance life in their community programs.

In Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Vickie created a live-event painting for the community along side area artists to create their own paintings depicting the struggles of their daily lives, giving them an outlet to help them cope with the massive challenges facing them.  These panels were then assembled along with works from other artists from Texas, Mexico, China, and South Africa to form stunning “World Mural Project” mosaic that was displayed in several exhibitions, including an installation at the Texas State PTA headquarters in Austin.
